If I walked in your classroom ... what would I see and hear?

Post by chriscurwen » Mon Mar 02, 2015 5:44 pm

Hi,

Would anyone be able to share their ideas on the following question:

If I walked into your classroom during an outstanding lesson, what would I see and hear?

Any help would be greatly appreciated, just for a small EFL research project.

Thanks,

Chris C.

I'm a bit late with the reply, but at least it's something :)

It really depends on the type of class, the activity that we are doing at the time and the time of year!

For most of my classes I try to increase student speaking time. We also have a lot of natural discussions so there is not a great deal of writing or completing exercises. Maybe only for around 10 minutes of a one hour lesson.

So you would hear the students speaking in groups or in pairs or to the teacher. Brainstorming ideas, asking and answering questions about their hobbies etc. Maybe even taking part in a business style role play.
