English and 1990s in Ireland

We are students on a teaching training degree from FUNDES in Espinal, Colombia. Our formation is based on CLIL, so we are working on a project about Bilingual Education in Primary School in different countries like Ireland. We are trying to know more about your country’s education because it can helps us to learn from a different perspective and have tools to face our labor as English teachers.
We’d like to ask you some questions about the way English as an Additional Language (EAL) is taught in Ireland and how is the primary education and how it was before.

1. What strategies do you use to teach an additional language? And how was it in 1990s?
2. How was the change of material for classes from 1990s to now?
3. How much has changed methodology in primary school from 1990s to now? is it better now?
4. What’s the most common teaching model to learn an additional language?
5. What contents or topics did the teachers use in the 1990s? Has it changed?
