New Chinese student starting tomorrow - no English

Post by dona » Wed Mar 10, 2004 12:15 am

I'm getting a new students tomorrow who does not speak English. I am creating some index cards for him to carry around to his classes to help him. One index card says WHERE on top and then on the following lines are: nurse, gym, cafeteria, locker, etc.... I have another card that says HELP and things such as: I don't understand, please explain, I don't feel well, I'm lost. First thing tomorrow the student and I will use his dictionary and electronic translator and translate these items to Chinese. What other important places, questions, items, should I have on these cards? I also copied off some pages from the picture dictionary that he will carry for the teachers - take out your book, open the book, sit down, etc.
Any suggestions are helpful!
