Post by joon » Wed Apr 16, 2003 12:45 pm

(E1)This might be a real war I've LIVELY ever watched on TV for the first time in my life.

(E2)This might be a real war I've ever LIVELY watched on TV for the first time in my life.

(Q1)Which is the correct position of the adverb " LIVELY" in your sense?

(Q2) Is this sentence acceptable English?

Actually, Joon, we can't use lively in this way. Lively is actually an adjective that means the same as energetic. (Friendly is another adjective that ends with "ly") In this case, we use the word "live" to describe the action of the war.

This might be the first time I've ever watched a real live war on TV.

or

This might be the first time I've watched a real war live on TV.

"In my life " is not necessary, because that is what the construction "I have ever" already tells us.
