Political Education
The research indicates that BE helps ELLs close the achievement gap with NESs, yet politicians continue to put policies in place that hinder this valuable tool for ELLs. The amazing thing is that educators have not revolted against these ideas en masse. As a community of professionals we continue to make things work despite all the obstacles and limitations that are handed down from state and federal agencies. Politicians want to please a voting constituency in order to remain in office. Why should education and especially BE continue to be held hostage to the prejudices of voters?
