Using the L1 for Some Students

Post by DBaccaro » Mon Jun 04, 2012 3:33 pm

I know a little bit of French and Italian. What happens if I have a French or Itailian speaking student who is having a hard time understanding me? Do I translate to their language to help them understand? I feel like this would be unfair to the other students who do not speak French or Italian. Also is it good to use online translators in class? Part of me thinks that they would be helpful, and part of me feels like they might confuse the students even more because these translators can be inaccurate.
