Group Work for High School Students

Post by mlordon » Tue Jun 26, 2012 12:33 am

Love group work for middle and high school students for several reasons. They get to practice their English in small group settings with little anxiety, if you group them according to language, higher level students can help lower level students, and they get social interaction as well as whatever the skill that the lesson is covering.

It actually doesn't matter what the lesson is as long as there is a work product after the whole class lesson. They can work together to come up with questions, comparisons, vocabulary definitions or sentences, it just doesn't matter. They talk, agree, disagree; the one caveat, make it count as a classwork or quiz grade and switch groups depending on the work product.

Use groups, it will benefit everyone in the long run!
