Seems fine to me. If folktales is your thing, I'd check out this site:

The tales are all written in slightly archaic language. I don't know why, but folktales just read better that way for native speakers of English. It includes the Mabigeon if you specifically want Welsh tales.
It wouldn't be too difficult to rewrite them in language that your students would understand.
