ESL/ELT activities which are effective with boys, esp ES/MS

Does anyone have tried and true activities which work really well with boys? At this age especially, they are not the same as girls in their approaches to learning ...(!!) So, apart from running around in a pirates-type game, what other activities can you suggest which do well?

Star Wars games. Just adapt games you know with Star Wars characters and places. We made a game with names of planets like Dagoba spread out on the floor. They got to move to another planet on a signal but couldn't have more than two on a planet so essentially like musical chairs, taking out a planet with the Death Star every round. You get the idea.
Anything to do with cars. If you have car magazines available you can make flash cards for colours, and then more sophisticated ideas for older ones.
Robots.
Jungles
Firemen
Policemen
Soldiers
The planets
Sports of all types
Old Eygpt with mummies and treasure
Just do what you would normally do for a lesson but learn the parts of a car for vocabulary, have toy car races, drive toy cars around a town you create on a rug, tell stories about cars that crash, that help people, makes books with the stories, get their stories and make books, visit a garage, bring in car parts you can take apart and put together, play games where they get to choose what car they are for movers, you can make them from cardboard, have them draw their dream cars, describe every job cars can be used for and take pictures of cars doing that.
