Elementary texts and switching between them

Post by calvinontheweb » Fri Nov 21, 2003 3:32 am

Hi, I teach a variety of books to elementary and early middle school students. I currently use Let's Go 1-6, Gogo 1 and 4, New Parade 2, and American Hotline Starter and Intermediate.

When should I switch between the series?

I feel that Gogo 1 should come before Let's Go 1, as the whole series is targetted to a younger audience. After Gogo 4 or 5, what book should I use next?

It would be easy to stay within the Let's Go series, but is it the best option?
My New Parade 2 class struggles sometimes, but the content is more complex.

I would not recommed the American Hotline series. There is no space for the students to write in their books and characters are dated. The New Headway series seems much more engaging.

After Let's Go 6 I'm going to try switching to New Headway Intermediate.
After American Hotline Starter I may still use New Headway Intermediate.
After American Hotline Intermediate I was going to use New Headway Upper-intermediate.

Thoughts?
