However, i have now thankfully been given the go ahead to screen my students with an exam to place them and now have the problem of having not much of an idea as how to really go about this!! has anyone any suggestions as to writing this form of test/ know of any good testing materials that would be useful? (have to test all levels of students with the one test - ppl with absolutely NO eng, to ppl with a fairly ok grasp of the eng language in all areas - esp written) any help appreciated!! thanks!Placement testing - help!

I am teaching eng in thailand, and until now, have not been able to have the opportunity to asses the students i am recieving in class, being restricted to relying on the students opinion of their level - not great, as you of course end up with very mixed classes!!!
