Teaching blind students

Post by Paddy » Mon Mar 17, 2003 10:54 am

I'm about to begin a 1-to-1 class with a blind elemantary level student. I have absolutely no experience with blind sts so could anyone give me any advice or suggestions for successfully teaching blind sts?
Thank you,

Hi Paddy, I taught a blind girl last year. She could read Braille and had a special computer that had a Braille pad so I could give her disks and she was able to read and join in the class (she was with 8 sighted students). One activity which worked well for all of them was ' guess what's on my picture?' I have a photo and they have to ask questions to which I can only answer yes or no.
