I'm conducting a study for my MA TESOL and would like to hear what teachers and students have to say about gender and cultural bias with respect to the coursebooks that they use. It's anonymous and the links below don't go to any commercial or harmful sites.

Link to teacher survey:

For students:

I really appreciate your help and thanks in advance to all who are willing to contribute!

It's not so much gender, as cultural bias--unexplained cultural references, for example. In addition, here in China it seems, there's more and more ESL texts--our school just received a shipment --that presupposes the students already culturally aware.

Sorry. I won't participate in your survey, not that I oppose gender inequ(al)ity but lately, it seems political correctiveness/affirmative action has gone too far. Following the 2nd email request to partake in an 'on-campus gender-equity' poll by 1 of 2 universities that admitted me recently, warning bells went off. I emailed back stating that if the on-campus situation were as grim as the urgency of the poll alluded, I'd consider the other admission offer.
