English content provider?

Post by captain » Thu Nov 25, 2004 4:32 pm

I am doing a ESL website but with no content. I am looking for some ready to use content e.g. grammar exercise, online English course, short articles for teens to read, and a lot of language games. Anyone knows where I can purchase ESL content? Should I approach a publisher? Or does anyone know any ESL website for sale?

Pardon me for asking, but why would you want to do this? It seems if you create your own site, you can link to other sites and create your own material as well. Otherwise why would you make a site?

Signed,

Naive

Thanks for your interest. I want to have my own site, not an amateur one but a professional one. My objective is to start up and run an online language school. That's why I need a lot of ESL content. I can do part of material writing of course and I love to do it. There are many aspects I need to handle and therefore I am thinking any ready to use elearning content in the market for sale. Links to other sites may infringe copyrights of the owners if I intend to use it for commercial purpose.

Aha! Thank you for your response. Now I understand you are interested in a commercial venture. :D

I've written an e-book of short readings on general knowledge subjects (life in Canada and the US). If you're interested, you can e-mail me for free samples.

I'm also planning to start a free site with daily news articles in basic English, based on wire service content. Teachers (or anyone else) will be able to print copies for their classes or for private use. This is still in negotiations at the moment.

Hope this post isn't too commercial!

Yikes! Seems everybody's staking their claim in the online EFL world!

I'm actually doing the same, but on a non-commercial basis. Darn slow programming on your own though, dontcha find?

Hello Captain.
My name is Vadim Kiryukhin. I’m a software engineer and founder of LanguageTeach Technologies company based in San Jose, CA.
The companydevelops language-related educational material. I don’t have any content, but I develop complex web-ready educational
material based on customer’s content. Please take a look at the company's web site
http://languageteach.com
and on examples we show at
http://languageteach.com/example/
Additional examples (in French) can be found at
http://languageteach.com/demo/french/
We charge as low as $3.50 per standard page and $7.00 per complex one.
As to content, I can talk to one of our customer, who is an ESL instructor and material developer. She uses our development software
to create her own interactive ESL material. You can see the materials at
http://khanson.eslinstructor.net
Please contact me if you are interested in any additional information about our company, service or technology.
