I can't help you with lectures, but if you want your students to listen to newscasts, using the following site can make your life easier:

It has broadcasts in several languages. The emissions are in British English. The big plus is that each news story has a transcript. Did you know that you can actually save the broadcasts and reuse them? This is how:
On a PC (Windows XP), after you play a news story, close it.
Go to Local Disk (usually 'C).
Go to Documents and Settings.
Go to the file that has your name on it. With me, it says, 'Roland Trego'.
Go to Local Settings.
Go to Temporary Internet Files. In that file, scroll down through all the files until you see the icon of the software used to play the file, e.g., RealPlayer or Microsoft Windows Media.
Highlight the icon.
Select 'Copy this item' (on the upper left side of the page) and save the file to disk or wherever you want to.
Don't forget to copy and save the text of the broadcast so you can use it for cloze exercises, etc.
If your target audience speaks one of the languages on the site, you can copy and save the text for the same broadcast in the foreign language for ss to read after they've done all your exercises.
Remember that such broadcasts are subject to copyright laws! You may only be able to legally use the material a few times in a short period.
