Adult educatin= coursebook+computer?

Hi, teachers and friends:
many people come into university again for further education for different purpose in China. I'm one of the large members for recognition of my out-date knowledge and some sterotype in the brainstorming. But, unfortunately, I encounter a bigger embarassment in the higher-education circle: directors and professors provide us with the newly-published coursebook with few new concepts, and they use the simple computer techniques to show us the materials adopted form the magazines in 1970s... Though Iconfess that some of the theories are quite useful, though I know that we adult should learn something practical and beneficial by our own efforts, i still want to know if it is a common phnomena in the adult-education field.
