CELTA - Jesus wept - help me please!

Post by nodolan » Sat Oct 02, 2004 6:01 pm

I'm doing the entensive Celta course. On day 2 we were expected to do up our very very technical lesson plans for the following week.

I had 'Reading Text' as stage 1 but the trainer corrected that to 'Reading' along with a dozen other "corrections".

I didn't mind that so much except that the front page of the lesson plan has a section entitled:

Anticipated language / skills difficulties for the student

I haven't a clue how to fill this out. I have to teach a reading text class on Ted Simon from the Workout (Advanced) book. How can someone who has no real (taught some TEFL 4 years ago) teaching experience tell what difficulties a student may have? I'm not a linguistics expert nor an Anthropologist nor Noam Chomsky.
Some of the people in my class have no TEFL teaching experience whatsoever and don't know where to begin.

HELP!

How did it go?

Sounds awful if the first day traumatised you all....what happened in the end? I'm assuming the course is over now.

Never be afraid to say you don't understand.
