press SHARP

Post by Itasan » Tue Mar 27, 2007 8:16 am

Here in Japan, when we dial 0055, the following message is heard:
"This is KDDI. Please dial your credit card number, then press SHARP."
When we dial 0034-111, then:
"Thank you for using NTT Communications. Please enter your card number,
then press SHARP."
'SHARP' is the word I'm curious about, but I'd be very happy if I could have
the whole sentence of the similar message in other countries.
Thank you very much.

"Please enter (the last 4 digits of your Social Security number/your account number) followed by the pound sign."

Interesting that in Japan you use "SHARP" where we say "the pound sign." Japan must have more musicians...

Thank you. The exact phrasing is very valuable to me.
