in years to come

Post by Itasan » Wed Jul 04, 2007 5:03 am

These posters will surely be worth millions in years to come!"

"What will this nation be in years to come?"
I think those mean 'after several years have passed from now'.

"She will be teaching English in years to come."
She will not be teaching English for several years, right?
Could that also mean "She will be teaching ... for several
years from now (and quit teaching after those several years)"?

Thank you.

Thank you.
You were closest the first time. "In years to come" means "after several years have passed from now," or just "in the future."

"She will be teaching English in years to come" means simply that she will be teaching in the future for some time. It does not imply anything about not teaching at any point in the future.
