suburban housewife look

Post by Itasan » Mon Sep 03, 2007 2:01 am

"She exchanged her suburban housewife look for leathers
and tattoos."
This is pretty difficult for me.
1. What kind of look is the 'suburban housewife look'?
2. Why for 'tattoos'?

Thank you.

Just noticed this post...

It depends on what kind of suburban housewife we're talking about. Right now I'd guess it would be what we'd call "preppy", slacks and a matching top in all-natural fibers, i.e. cotton in summer, wool in winter. Shoes would be sneakers or loafers.

But if you want to see what it USED to be, take a look at old American TV shows like "Leave it to Beaver" or "Father Knows Best,", or the movie "Pleasantville", where the housewives wore dresses and high heels!
