Authentic materials...which ones encourage engagement?

Post by teresa roll » Wed Jun 20, 2012 5:28 pm

Hello, Everyone!

Presently, I am a master's candidate at Ohio Dominican University completing a research project on the use of authentic materials in the high school ESL classroom to increase student engagement in the required curriculum.

If you teach or completed student teaching in a high school ESL classroom, I very much welcome your insight. The survey is designed to not only show the trends on what "real life" materials are most frequently being used in the classroom, but it also includes a section where respondents may share a lesson or task-based project which they feel resulted in excellent student feedback and engagement.

Subsequently, I am quite excited about the lessons that survey respondents have already shared in the survey, and will happily share them and my other data with anyone who is interested.

Following is the survey link:

Thanks in advance for your help.
