Starting a new school: recommendation on facilities?

Post by hugh » Thu Jan 15, 2004 4:48 pm

Hello-
This is my first posting on the forum.
I'm planning to start a new English School in Beijing, focusing on Business Communication and Academic English. The target audience would be college graduates, either advancing in their careers, or preparing to go abroad for graduate studies. I want the classes to be mostly team-class-discussion based, with lots of role-play to maximize speaking time for the students. Therefore, there will be little dependency on textbooks and more on teacher's creativity.
Based on the concept, what do you recommend should be in each classroom? the basics probably include: TV/DVD player, OH projector, and old-school blackboard. What else?
What about the staff library? What materials should I include for teacher's reference?
Is it necessary to have a computer room, with ESL software installed?
Please note--I need to maximize the value for the classroom, while minimize the cost.

Thanks in advance.
