Bilingual ed animated film on PBS Sat., Feb. 26

Post by filmmaker » Thu Feb 24, 2011 10:10 pm

I am writing bilingual educators to let you all know about a film that will be showing on PBS this coming weekend. Unfortunately, films made for and about underrepresented communities don't have the type of financial support that mainstream media has, so we indie filmmakers really depend on grass roots efforts to get noticed. I thank you in advance for reading this and hope that you will spread the word around.

Best regards,

What is Paper Words?
PAPER WORDS is a short 3D-animated film about a bright, five year old girl from China who uses her imagination to cope with her new life in America. With no bilingual resources to help her adjust in her new environment, Mei and her family look for alternative ways of communicating.

This film short's educational content in the unusual form of animation makes this a unique, entertaining and engaging program for broad audiences as well as Asian Americans, educators, children, and immigrants.

The program is playing as part of GLOBAL VOICES and it is programmed for morning and evening shows -- a great time for kids.

If you miss this broadcast and would still like to see it, it is available as a VOD on Amazon.
