I have been offered a contract by Expertise Education to teach in Beijing China and was wondering if it would be worth it.

There are two contract options they present you with:
option 1: 6,000 RMB a month. this includes housing, Chinese lessons, airport pickup, and also temporary accommodations after arrival.

Option 2: 9,000 RMB a month, with nothing else included. The contract option paper says that you can pay money for the other services, for example, airport pickup for 250 RMB.

Something that is included under both of the contracts is a "free TEFL certification." The amount of hours each week is 25-40. There is also a $1000 airfare bonus the end of both contracts.

My main concerns are:

1. 6000 RMB doesn't seem like very much.
2. You aren't actually placed in schools before you arrive. According to the girl i talked to, you go to schools and do "demos" and they decide if they like you, and you decide if you like the school. The possibility of not actually getting a job worries me, despite the fact that Expertise "guarantees placement."

Thank you for taking the time to look at my post, I appreciate it!

Your ONLY concern needs to be the salary. Too little for Beijing, too little for the number of hours ANYWHERE. Lousy offer.

My guess is that they ask you to travel on an F or L visa. They do not provide the correct Z visa ?

How many schools will they sell you to ? Will you end up having to spend your time traveling between 3 or 3 schools ?

$1000 airfare is only about 6100RMB, most schools pay 8 to 10,000RMB for airfare.

More info is needed, but it seems like a very undesirable situation.

6,000rmb for (probably) 40 hours per week is terrible.

Not to mention in Beijing...you're at poverty line.

You could get the same conditions and pay for a quarter the teaching hours at a uni/college and have the available time to supplement your pay with privates if need be.

Unless I'm missing some vital piece of info....keep looking.

you didn't mention visa.

i'm gonna assume they want to class you as an intern, and the salary
will be called a stipend. they'll bring you over on a business visa that
you have to renew occasionally.

i suspect they're using the 'free tefl certification' to get you into schools
because you for some reason don't qualify for a legal working visa.

i sense very bad fengshui.

They say that you "receive a visa invitation letter," but they don't say which kind of visa. I would assume i qualify for a working visa because I have a bachelors degree. It seems based off of the information everyone is giving, this isn't a good company to go with.

With that being said, I'm going to pass on this company. Thank you for all the info everyone!

google it: "expertise education review"

not many happy people among those 6,335,000 hits.

and from their website:

"Visa Sponsorship

At Expertise, we work to ensure all teachers are sponsored and taken care of with regard to visa processing. From the initial process of receiving your visa invitation letter to the later steps of extending your visa inside China, Expertise is with you 100%..."

no mention of work permit or expert certificate. no mention of residence
permit. but help extending your visa? you never extend a work visa.
