Hey guys, I'm having a hard time finding schools in Okinawa, Japan. On the net, I've found a total of four so far. I've also emailed one group out there for this information, but no luck so far.
Does anyone know how I can get a list of schools in Okinawa, with contact info, etc., without having to go there? I would like to secure a job before I flew to the island.
The only other idea I have atm is to locate someone who I can call that's willing to assist in the endeavor.
Ideas? |

It will be very difficult to find a position in Okinawa, as it's one of the most desirable locations in Japan. Good luck. |

I can't help you directly on the question you asked, but it may be worth knowing for other forum members whether you have any specific teaching qualifications.
Also, your nationality and whether or not you have any experience working with the US military could be a bonus. |

You'll find a lot of competition from military wives that teach part-time for a fraction of what everyone else does which is JPY250000 per month. Such wives charge maybe $15/hour. |

My quals:
- one yr teaching post TEFL cert
- 6 months pre
- Bacc in Anthro
- AA in Comp Studies
- 2+ yrs teaching IT
- 2+ yrs teaching music, private lessons
And a few little extras.
I lived on Okinawa when I was a teen, as my father was military. However, that was 8 yrs ago, and I'm not in contact with anyone there anymore.
So, no ideas on how to find schools there? As I was saying, there aren't many on the internet, and I don't have an Oki phone book. |
