I have a BA in Modern Languages with Business and a TESOL Cert.

I have 10 years of teaching experience. This include 2 years in HE (UK + Thailand). 6 months of EAP experience.

How much am I worth?

I am in the UK at present. I want to know what sort of package I should be aiming for?

I'm sure your mummy thinks you're precious Razz

Please explain HE and EAP for the benefit of those who do not know.
(Extensible Authentication Protocol?) (Employee assistance program?) (European Association for Psychotherapy?)

All kidding aside, the best any ESL teacher can hope for is between US$2000-3000, possibly a bit more in the ME (Measurable Ego?) (Maximum Extremity?) (Middle East?) Razz but really no more than that.

As for 'packages' by which I suppose you mean benefits, that would depend on how much your prospective employers are lying to you, and even if they are not - they won't be telling you the disadvantages of the job.

I think it's best we all just ask our mums to hire us.

HE is Higher Education and EAP isd English for Academic Purposes. Even a feline shoukld know that.

When I left KFUPM I was at the top of the salary scale and I was getting 16,000 SR a month with opportunities for overtime and summer work. No rent or utilities and nice long holidays. Ticket paid to point of origin obnce a year. Educvation allowances for children at school in KSZA maximuim 25,000 a year (TOTAL not per child)

It was okay

Yeah my mum was real proud when I got my degree - even if it was from an ex-polytechnic. Razz

Chase Recruiting fronting for Education Experts (KSU) have offered me 12,400 SAR per month. This works out to be about 25,000 per annum.

Their ad specified 23,500 - 35,000 so I was expecting a bit more.

Many job ads schools offer $3,000 a month but few of these jobs interest me.

I will ask them to up their offer. How much is realistic? Remember - I know very little about KSA or the Gulf (NEWBIE).

Hate to be a bother, but I also don't know what KFUPMI means and I can't find it on Google. Embarassed
Could it be Kellog's flavored uterus parts minced intensely? Just a guess, mind you.

SAR.12,400 strikes me as being a little on the low side...
However, there is some consolation in that
you'd be amongst "Education Experts". Smile

Anyone who doesn't know what these abbreviations mean, has no real business in a forum for teachers, surely - especially EFL teachers.

What KFUPM means, however, is a reasonable enough question. King Fahd University for Petroleum & Minerals is, IMHO, one of the few truly decent employers left in KSA, and arguably the best.

One thing, JerkyBoy, what does NEWBIE mean?

No Experience, Will Be Immediately Employed?

Sadly, not a joke as far as Saudi PYPs are concerned these days.

Or, maybe biggest joke of all!
