|
|
I checked out their website and it implies more than 40 hours needs to put in it for a few weeks.
I too, wondered if there were any EF in Indonesia that were acceptable. I had also heard that wages weren't great, but now I am wondering just how many teaching hours and office hours are the average.
Thanks to those in the know for responding. |

I usually spend between 45-50 hours a week at work - that includes teaching time, prep time, down time between lessons and time spent travelling to offsite classes. I could probably whittle that down by a few hours, but then the quality of my lessons would suffer.
Try EF Kelapa Gading (North Jakarta) - AFAIK, they only teach four days a week and the contact hours are unusually low for a language school. |

40 hours is a base line. Expect more if you're working overtime or off site. Pretty much the same as any profession really.
As for wages, it's a free market. Take the best offer you can find.
My experience has been that quality time spent preparing = quality lessons with fewer classroom management issues and less teacher stress... |

I usually spend quite a bit of time lesson planning so I wonder how much time is actually teaching. If there is more than one grade level, then I spend even more time. |

I'm registered on a jobsite called Learn4Good and received numerous notifications of openings at English First in Indonesia, especially EF Swara Group. They must really be desperate. There were also a few listings for EF Pekanbaru. |

Thanks, I'll check the website. I getting very interested in the idea of teaching in Indonesia. Would be a nice change from China and Thailand. As with every place and every agency there is good and bad. Really hope to avoid the bad one this time. |

My experience with teaching hours is that about 22/23 hours a week seems to be the norm - give or take a couple of hours according to school size or teachers off holidaying or sick. |
