Hello everyone. I have recently become very interested in living and teaching in the UAE, and I just had a few questions. I am currently living in Thailand, concluding my second year teaching high school science at a private english school. I have my BA in Behavioural Neuroscience, as well as 2 years of ESL experience.
1) As far as my credetials go, what would be the best employement option, if any? (i.e. private schools, university, english institutes)
2) What would be the best way to apply for these jobs?
3) Would pay be enough to live on and potentially save a bit?
4) What location would be the best to look at?
5) If not the UAE, what would be the next best location in the Mid-East?

Thank you for your time and help. Cheers.

I take it that you've done absolutely NO research before posting. Your creds won't get you hired in the U.A.E., but you would be a perfect match for the Emirati college girls that I taiught.

It's not as easy to get hired there as you seem to think!

So you have NO EFL/ESL certification(s) whatsoever? No teaching credential from your home country whatsoever? No one will look at you in the GCC period without either - the pieces of paper and letters after your name make you employable here, no matter how good a teacher you are. Sorry.

Thank you both for your quick replies. Would I be more employable if I went up to Bangkok and purchased some credentials? Very Happy
But in all seriousness, thank you for your replies. It appears as though I asked my questions under misunderstood pretenses. Back to the drawing board.

Yes! The myth that the Gulf is a big ATM for teachers to withdraw from is only true up to the point that you have to have a valid card to withdraw from the machine.

It's nice to see that you can take direct responses without getting your panties in a twist!
