There doesn't seem to be a lot of jobs to choose from in KSA from where I'm standing (i.e. The UK).

Are things easier once on the ground?

From what i hare seen, there aren't a lot of jobs right now. The big season usually starts in the summer. then, from what i have been told, the market for teaching jobs in the KSA are abundant. Many places do hire year round, but those are not often the best of the best. the good ones hire in the summer between academic years.

Even if the jobs were easier "on the ground", how are you going to get "on the ground" to get a job? Are you going to get a visa for an "umhra"? Anyone who has a job there would not be able to move around until their contract ended, in any case.

TESOL Arabia will probably have quite a few recruiters from Saudi. They will probably post on the TESOL Arabia Conference website, too.

Simple - sign up with some bungling tyrannical contractor and agree to work illegally with no job security but no iqama and my passport about my person.

When that particular venture goes *beep* up or runs its course, try to get a job with a real outfit from within KSA.

I thought that you were not tied into anything or tied down by sojourning on a visit visa?

Or am I just clueless?

Thanks for this.

I have to run with the cowboy pack for now - it's either that or sit at home in merry England twiddling my thumbs.
