My partner recently had an interview with a fellow on the phone regarding a job as an Art Teacher. He told her he had a bad experience in Turkey in art class, because the teacher taught him about some "heretical" colours.
Does anyone have any idea what he meant by this? I'd hate for my partner to land an art job and bring the wrath of angry Turkish parents down upon her because of a colour theory lecture.
...and just in daily life, are there any colours that should be avoided?

I never heard anything about "heretical" colours, but your story is interesting. In regards to colour of clothing for daily life there really is none (I'm speaking about the big cities). Dress modestly and lean to the conservative side on your first week at school. The k-12 schools I've worked at give a free day to kids and teachers for how they'd like to dress. Teachers can dress down and the kids don't have to wear uniforms. I'd think most schools would inform their teachers on dress code and you can see how people dress and then go from there. I did read once upon a time that red was a no-no, but in the schools I've worked at it was never a problem. |
