|
|
Hi guys,
Sorry if this sounds really obvious, but I'm new to all this and just wanted to verify...
So I sent my CV to some recruitment agencies and they replied saying first I need to email them copies of my passport, my diplomas, degrees, and so on. Does this usually happen? Should I go ahead and do that?
I'm just a little agitated sending my passport information to random recruiters... Is this safe? Do you have any tips? |

Before the sharks surround, i can answer this...
To the best of my knowledge, in dealing with recruiters, they need to verify that you are qualified to proceed with employment. Typically this verification involves assuring that you are from a Native speaking country and have the qualifications to match what they are looking for.
This is a visa thing, too many times they have taken the word of the potential employee, only to have it fall through for whatever reason.
I muself have never heard of any of these recruiters using that information in some identity theft situation, but i am sure it happens.
Check out the recruitment company to ensure they are, if not reputable, at least real.
Hope that helps,
Duck. |

I would avoid random recruiters completely myself and only go direct hire. If you have very limited credentials, you may need to use them. But I would only apply to specific jobs.
I don't see any reason not to send scanned copied of your credentials. As to the passport, I would blur out the number and the date of birth. Other than that, there is no use for a scanned copy other than making sure of your nationality - which is likely what they are doing.
