In Cutting Edge Intermediate they mention that the Italian language does not call soccer/football some variation of the English word 'football' as most languages do, but uses some other word. It has to do with some Fascist law made in the 1930's forbidding the use of foreign words in Italian
On the net I found pallone (http://www.wordhippo.com/what-is/the/italian-word-for-football.html) and calcio on Google translate . As a mere American, I know little about 'soccer'. Can any of you Euro dwellers tell me the right word?

It's calcio. Pallone is something else, some kind of odd historical game that I've never really understood. |
