Could someone tell me where one would buy tampons in Riyadh? I've searched this forum and the internet and the consensus seems to be that they are available, but with no specific place where they could be found. Thanks. |

OK... are you boys finished? Are you both like... 15 years old?
Here's the standard advice for any large city in the Gulf. You will find them in any of the large supermarkets and perhaps also large pharmacies. If you have a special favorite brand, bring a supply as you may not find it. Feminine hygiene products are just as easy to find in the Gulf as at home... not some obscure mystery shop in a distant souq.

I'M not playing! I repeat, SERIOUSLY(!), is this appropriate for an ESL site? Wouldn't this kind of question be more appropriate for a PM (I'm not EVEN going to go there!).
Or, am I just a prude? I don't even feel comfortable with the Summer's Eve commercials...
P.s. This is VERY trollish behaviour on the OP's part!

well if thats the OP's level of preparedness for saudi arabia then i say there will be a few other (and not necessarily as pleasant) surprises waiting for her over there other than the easy availability of tampons |

Hmm... The OP stated in an older post that he's a single, 20-something year old male. Not sure what he wants with these products. Teaching aids perhaps? Anyway, as VS said, they can be found in the major supermarkets---Carrefour in Granada Mall, for one. Try the personal products aisles; tampons are usually located near the facial tissues. |

I'm acting as proxy for someone who has appropriate need for such devices. A search has been performed, from Tamimi to Hyber Banda, to no avail. Granada Carrefour will be the next place to look I suppose. Thanks for the help.
A guy using a tampon as a teaching aid would not find himself working here long, unless he is teaching E for very SP!
P.S. To whoever said they are readily available, just like in the west... No. Pads are everywhere but tampons not so much. I've heard friends tell of female university students who don't even know what tampons are. |

Dear Nomad.
I don;t know where you have shopped, but i have been to those places in search of them. they are not there. Sorry, not trying to stir up any trouble, just don't want to mislead the OP...
I have family here, and she has looked as well, she is another one who just rang me about Boots.
thanks to the OP for asking something i should have a long time ago. |

Yes, Mr. Scary, I would definitely say you are a prude!
It is the year 2012 or was the last time I checked...
This forum is also for lifestyle issues because it definitely relates to employment and teaching issues. I may add that this forum is also for women as well as men...just because men do not necessarily have a need for such personal items doesn't mean 'inquiring' should be considered taboo..after all we are grown ups...well at least I like to think we all are on this forum
Stick to what you do best...correcting people's grammar mistakes. |

Don't know what the big deal is. Every woman needs them. And most men know of women.... ! No need to feel uncomfortable. It's a serious, genuine question. From my understanding, America even class tampons as "medical devices". But iWaffle...
Anyhow, to the person who said they can be found anywhere, I suspect you might be talking about pads? Sometimes people can get confused between the two. Pads and tampons are two different things. Pads are very easy to get hold of in Saudi. Tampons? Nope.
Not to sound patronising to the original poster, but is it definitely a tampon you need, and not a pad? Just in case you got confused. I know in my time, many men have thought that pads are called tampons (as in, they all have one name). Just thought I'd check! Sorry. |

No, iPads.

Yah, I know--I used to get iPhones confused with iPads and iPads confused with iTouch; this brublem teacher. |
