Dear JerkyBoy,

Never had to use one. The IPA in Riyadh had all the facilities - free: weight room, Olympic-size swimming pool, sauna, basketball court, etc.

And that was a very nice since most gyms can be pretty expensive.

Regards,
John

I did follow your lead when you first mentioned it, John.

I applied to IPA and even watched the YouTube video, basketball courts and all.

I think it could be KSU for me Rolling Eyes

Dear JerkyBoy,

Well, if you are motivated enough, you can do a pretty fair workout right at home: stomach crunches, push ups, etc.

Lots of stuff on the Net regarding how you can stay fir without joining a gym.

e.g. http://www.fitwatch.com/exercise/10-ways-you-can-exercise-at-home-without-any-equipment-10.html

As a sidenote since this video is of Matt of "where in the world is Matt?" fame... he is still doing these videos and he was planning a taping in the next week or so in Tahrir Square in Cairo... right in front of the Mogamma.

Do you know any male gyms in Riyadh that offer day use? I just want to lift some weights and am not ready to commit to any membership just yet.

Thanks in advance.

Dear JerkyBoy,

Sorry, I don't - as I mentioned, there was a well-equipped fitness center at the IPA. But I knew a fair number of people who bought some weights and worked out at home.
In the long-run (assuming there IS a long-run Very Happy) or even the medium-run, it probably be a lot cheaper.

Regards,
John

I could acquire some basic kit I suppose. It's certainly an idea.

I have a feeling I will be very toned on my return to the outside world.
