archibald - no idea, although I think it's believed to be ok/good
Bell - all teachers seem to have gone to the British Council
Empik - usual school factory type affair, ok enough although no personal/anecdotal evidence
Mike Mills - Good school although I've heard the owner is a bit of a monster though. Probably one of the best payers after the BC.

I'll qualify the monster comment - most owners of schools who run the school itself are monsters. You only have to meet the owner of York in Krakow to see this.

Oh, how dare you have a pop at the living legend who owns York School in Krakow?

A teacher turnover rate of about 20 each academic year, gruelling teacher meetings which turn into surreal ramblings, and selling holidays in the classroom is pretty, top stuff, Mr Porter.

Regards

John

I've worked at Bell Warsaw. It's a friendly school with a relaxed working environment and experienced teachers.

The pay is nothing fantastic, however, which is why many of their teachers are heading for greener pastures (myself included).

What is the pay like at the BC? I am still a relatively new teacher and don't teach a lot of grammar at the moment which I am trying to change (not through avoiding just I work predominantly as a Native teacher with focus on vocab)

It's 110zl/60 min for CELTA qualified teachers, 112zl/60 min for DELTA qualified teachers. This is GROSS pay, so it works out to around 90zl/hour after taxes.

Getting teaching hours at the BC does require a bit of persistence and luck. You also need to have CELTA + 2 years teaching exp. minimum. You must have your own company set up, or be willing to set one up as the BC only hires contractors these days.

I know that a lot depends on how you respond to questions in the interview.
