I order from Lands' End when I need clothes. Istanbul doesn't really offer anything mid-priced that's worth a damn, so I've just stopped trying.
Anyway, with my most recent order, I received an email that brought me up to speed with some new fees and rules. I knew that orders had to be under a certain amount to avoid the dreaded customs house, but this was something new.
"We have been informed that items made in China will be assessed a duty at 9.6%, VAT at 8% including the duty fee, $45 USD for category fee, and $50 USD for terminal, official docs, brokerage, and governmental fees when sent to Turkey."
So, on the $70 item, I'm paying a total of $165.
Just a heads up for those of you that find Marks and Sparks as worthless as me. |
