Hello all,
I received an email from a Gmail account today stating that details of my Secondary NET interview will be emailed to me later today. Interviews in London from 19th March.
Anyone else get this?
Can anyone tell me how much pay I can expect with
PGCE+PGDE+CELTA+10 years' teaching experience?
thank you very much |

I live in Berlin so kind of need to hear before weekend in order to get flights...

Hi,
Just got an email detailing the interview and it seems above board. They are not asking for any money so yes it's genuine.
Hope you get the same message and do stay in touch. |

Hi,
I also got an invitation to an interview for Thursday at 11:00... It all seems above board. It takes place at the Hong Kong Tourism Building.
When is your interview?

Hi,
Well done. I think with an interview arranged you're more than half way there!
Mine is on Wednesday 21st in London at the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office.
Wonder if they cover travel expenses to interview?
Meanwhile it's time to start searching this forum for interview tips and advice.

So I had the NET interview in London and I thought it went well. I look normal and I think I made a fair impression at interview.
I have a PGCE in MFL, MA, CELTA.
I have around 7 years of experience teaching EFL.
Despite this I was REJECTED!!
Can anyone explain why they might have rejected me as in the feedback from them which I requested, there is nothing specific mentioned regarding my performance at interview.
A shocked and disillusioned NET applicant. |

As has been said many times before - there is no uniformity when it comes to hiring.....the only way to know if you will be accepted is to actually apply as I am sure everyone on here has very different stories regarding the people they know who have been accepted or rejected.
They are a law unto their own and only they know why you weren't successful. If you thought it went well though, send them an email and ask them directly why you weren't accepted.....someone on here did that and the decision was over ruled... |

Sounds bizarre, but no more bizarre than some of the stuff that goes on in HK education generally. Who knows, maybe they have a quota system: they have to fail X number of applicants.
You can always try again next year. It sounds like you are well qualified and experienced - more so than many in the system. And it is hardly rocket science. If you can stand upright and talk at the same time without getting dizzy, then you could do some of the stuff that passed at 'education' at some of the schools I taught at in HK. |

this is very disappointing for you. I'm sorry. who knows how their minds work. I'm a long term NET but also was rejected on my first application.
who interviewed you? what did they ask? did you sit a written test?
give us more details and maybe someone here can throw some light on your experience. don't let this put you off applying again. |
