If they provided a housing allowance, again, I would leave after they completed the paperwork. You assume, I would take a furnishing allowance. That is an optional consideration. It is not mandatory by any university that you accept it.

Sorry... but how I responded is exactly how your posts read... as apparently JohnSlat read them too. It seemed very clear to me that was your intention. Thus, you best be careful how you present yourself because your posts presented you in a very bad light. Perhaps you have an odd idea of what it means to "do a runner." To do a runner or absconding means that you leave without telling your employer... and NOT settling your debts. You have slandered yourself...

Nor have I ever heard of an "optional" furnishing/settling in allowance. HCT, in fact, hands it to you... in cash... the day after you arrive. It is about $8000.

Honestly VS, I do not want to go in circles with you. I have made my point. Whether you and John Slat are in agreement, does not validate your accusations.

I have been in the ME for over 15 yrs teaching. Back in the day, all expats lived in compounds in Saudi Arabia. Now it is considered a luxury. Back in the day, most employers regarded their employees with a certain level of respect. Now many of them only want warm bodies.

Contracts these days, are not worth the paper they are printed on. However, that does not mean I run like a thief in the night. I definitely run, but not before settling any debts that are owed. That's why I asked if HCT offered accommodation.

To be honest VS, I simply would leave without notice

Seems that you made "points" that you didn't intend.

If all your experience was in Saudia, it may explain why you seem to misunderstand the situation in the rest of the Gulf.

(BTW... notice is normally 6 months/one semester at tertiary level)
