|
|
For the last few months, contractors - HAK, SRACO etc. - are changing the dates on contracts without giving any notice to employees!!! All of this goes on under the auspices of Aramco!!! You think you have a contract for a year and then you find out that it is only for four/five/six months!!!!
In English the word would be THEFT!!! Employees apply for leave - only to be told that their contract has been changed (without discussion or warning) so they are no longer entitled to leave and/or the company will not pay for tickets home!!!
This is completely contrary to signed documents that employees have stating end-of-contract date PLUS separate documents saying they will get full leave and flight allowances!!
It is also completely against Saudi Labor Law!!! But, Aramco feel that they can do anything!!! - and they do!!!
This is not a company to be trusted and not a company to work for!!! Be warned!! |

Very sorry to hear it. Like I've said, contracts are not worth the paper they are printed on. |

Billings....the contractor company is not Aramco....
Why do you constantly say so.....in many threads.
If you have a problem with contracts....hire a lawyer and take it to the government. Im sure you have your copy, and if they submit a different copy then...presto...there busted....
Im sorry if yourve had a bad experience....and I agree...contractors like HAK.....as I have read here are not good to work for....Direct hire is the only way most of us would even contemplate going to saudi....its not my first choice as a destination thats for sure. |

Very good point from Ultraman!!
"Billings....the contractor company is not Aramco....
If you have a problem with contracts....hire a lawyer and take it to the government. Im sure you have your copy, and if they submit a different copy then...presto...they're busted.... "
The problems 1) the contractor company is NOT interested and treats employees like ____ ! (fill in the blank)
2) Aramco supports this system by buffering themselves with the SMP - Supplementary ManPower - system! It's part of Aramco! Employees are just given the runaround! Aramco could stop it but too many people getting feedbacks!
3) Yes, taking it to a lawyer is the only way to solve it AND I am sure all employees would win!! But, what would they win!? Their ticket home!? Two months salary???? Then, at the end of their contract, it would not be renewed! In the long run, they lose their job! For most, that is not worth it!!! Better to lose a battle and choose when to leave!
One small example: SRACO and HAK say they pay visas in their contract!! No they don't! Is $50 worth taking them to court for? No, so three times a year, for many employees, somebody pockets $50.
When you first arrive in Kingdom, you should be paid from the day you land! You're not!!! They pay you when you start at ARAMCO! - not worth taking them to court for one week's salary if you will lose salary for a year! |

I hardly think that recruiters could pull stunts behind Aramco's back. Aramco is fully aware of their dealings. I'm sure it is all authorized by them. It appears that the Saudi's are taking full advantage of the world economic crisis. Visit visas, contract manipulations and end of service gratuities only benefit the Saudis. The sad part is that if you need the job, then you must comply to their unethical practices. It's difficult to find a worthwhile position in the ME any-more. |

six weeks off per 12 and a half months! 4 months on - two weeks leave, 4 months on - two weeks leave etc.
Any additional time is with prior approval (usually only if it is very quiet e.g. Ramadan) and is without pay or accrual of benefits |

(as a plural of a noun)
If I were to go and work in Saudi today, is this what I would have to accept as acceptable standards for the English-teaching profession?
Dearie me!

Pretty weird how Aramco will select one or two for direct hire and feed the rest to the contractors. |

Those that have been offered direct hire jobs in the last year were all told that it was not for basic workers, but for apparently management level.
Are you being offered a 6 figure salary and housing on the posh ARAMCO compound? They were...
