I've noticed that in Japan, in particular, academic, peer-reviewed publications are critically important regarding university employment.
How are publications viewed by those in the Middle East?
Is the focus primarily on experience (university level, writing, and with Arabic-speaking students)? |

Yes...
Publications won't hurt you... might help you... not required though and most don't have any.

With the possible exception of ZU, it's been my sense that UAE schools have little appreciation for scholarly work.
Publications/presentations will not get you promoted.
The college will take credit for your presentation/publication.
If you're lucky, the Sheikh will congratulate you on your work.
Then - your campus director will start to feel very insecure, possibly to the point of firing you for being more qualified than him/her/it. |
