				| I've noticed that in Japan, in particular, academic, peer-reviewed publications are critically important regarding university employment.
How are publications viewed by those in the Middle East?

Is the focus primarily on experience (university level, writing, and with Arabic-speaking students)?

Publications won't hurt you... might help you... not required though and most don't have any.

				| At HCT Sharjah we have been asked what publications we have had within the last five years. May not be a requirement - yet....... | |

				| With the possible exception of ZU, it's been my sense that UAE schools have little appreciation for scholarly work.
Publications/presentations will not get you promoted.

The college will take credit for your presentation/publication.

If you're lucky, the Sheikh will congratulate you on your work.

Then - your campus director will start to feel very insecure, possibly to the point of firing you for being more qualified than him/her/it.
