I'm an American who hasn't been having any luck with JET or the big Eikawa. Can any of you recommend some good, maybe less well known regional or local English schools? They have to hire overseas and offer visa sponsorship. I have a strong preference for Osaka and the Kansai region in general, but I'm open to most of Japan too. |

Would you like us to arrange your interviews as well? Maybe book and pay for your air tickets? Or would you like to read the FAQs, do even 10 minutes research on google, or wade through the archives here first? |

Gus3,
If you are talking about smaller schools, you won't find many at all who will interview you, even with Skype, as long as you are out of the country. This is not a very useful comment for you, but your odds are very small in finding what you want. |

I'm already familiar with one school, M.I.L. in Chiba. I've tried looking for more on google and in the archives here, no luck. Are there any schools similar to M.I.L.? |

I don't know MIL, Gus, other than some old post information here (and I have not looked back to read them). What do you mean exactly by "like MIL"? |

Think of it as good practice for Japan: if you go to Japan with your attitude then you'll be ridiculed by every non-American your entire time there.
And those were serious suggestions in the second bit. The answers are out there and easily found. Why should anyone do your homework for you?! |

And to the person who posted right above him, ignore the rant. What I mean by schools like MIL is, smaller, regional English schools that accept overseas applications. |
Thanks for the clarification. By schools, I assume you mean language conversation schools (eikaiwa), right? You won't get anyone in a public school to hire you directly in the way you are looking because they usually take ALTs from JET or dispatch agencies.
I already provided my answer to your question, but I'll just add that darned few places like you want have ever been posted publicly by name, so perhaps you will get a private message. Good luck. |

Im sure i asked this question a few posts down! =P
"This may sound harsh, but that type of question is basically you asking everyone else to do your research for you. With a glut of teachers here now, it's better if you find something and then ask about it specifically."
I wonder who could ahve said something like that!
I feel exactly where your coming from though but its true after Glen smacking me in the face with it, but people who don't know you, wont give you any personal recruitment information because well....they don't know you. I've PMed a few people on this forum for there opinion on the matter and i got a few good things to think about. =) |

Such as...? Telling people to PM others is one thing, but all you have really said here is that it gave you something... well, just something.
Names of potential employers?
Job hunting strategies?
Tips on using Skype for interviews? |
