I tried and tried and tried to find out if I was blacklisted before I left (Mexico) to come here. Couldn't find out anything. Here's my tale:

"Warning! Henan Business College, Zhengzhou"

"There IS a blacklist!!!"

"NEVER thought this would happen...."

(You will have to read them in order for the whole sordid story.)

Can you please provide us with the name of the recruiter who arranged this contract? I personally think you will be burned in the end. I just paid a fine for the same reason thing you are going through. A contract means nothing in China there is not protection for you only them. You are not part of the harmonious society and never will be.

It was China Connection Education Service. Looks like my career in China is over before it's begun unless I can find out some way or other if I have been blacklisted by them. I should have thought about the consequences!

Career in China? Well that never will begin unless you come to China working for a real company (ie foreign owned enterprise ) and in a capacity other than an esl teacher.

Does ANYONE think that a recruiter has the power to get anyone blacklisted? Come on people use some common sense here. Unless of course you have been eating white rice for 5000 years then we can understand why you have no common sense

Jumping in here.what about if you got sent 2 letters of invitation, but of course u only went for one job (different province)? would that be risky?
I mean since there is no central database (yet) would school A be able to do anything to you? would they make you pay the breach of contract or just write nasty emails?

Probably nothing will happen. The school you're not going to might be somewhat pissed at wasting the money ( ~ RMB3000 reportedly) and effort to get those documents for you though. Just hang your head in shame for applying for and accepting two jobs at once, and be sure to tell the other school you won't be coming.

To the OP: do not worry about getting blacklisted over what you did. Chinese recruiters are the worst in the world about rushing, pressuring and intimidating potential FT's to come over if they decide to back out for whatever, be it a ray of common sense struck them or some genuine emergency. Others who have posted stating that you are not a bonded servant or slave and should have the right to back out are correct; absolutely true assuming you're not in country because remember once in China, your employment rights drop to zero-ish. Do you really want to go to China? So many others have made the mistake and regretted it. Don't make me sing Pete Seeger's "Where have all the flowers gone" in mournful voice as a last moment plea.

Back to the point, most Chinese are only-children and as such, a lot of them are spoiled babies. Just ignore their threats and intimidation. The Chinese will go to extremes to try and put someone in fear and wrangle them over. It's all smoke and no fire.

Bloom.

You can get into trouble accepting two contracts. The school that filed your paperwork first has the legal right to hire you. When the second school goes to file they will discover you have already been hired from another employer. You need the first school to cancel the letter of invitation. They might not do if they are angry.

^ Could be right. If school A did all the work to get you an FEC and you opt for school B then school B can't hire you until school A tells the FEC people you aren't working there.

This will not get you many friends on either side as it causes them work - which cuts into their sleeping time, QQ chat time, and online movie watching time.

But surely if they are in different provinces this is not relevant?
