I need to buy Oxford University Press coursebooks.

I live in California, but I will be teaching in Kyrgyzstan.

I have a week to sight see in Istanbul, and I am hoping I can buy the coursebooks en-route.

Can anyone recommend a vendor?

Thanks

The best bookstores that stock English books (though I cannot specifically say all Oxford University Press books) are :

D&R Books (several branches)
Etiler (Tel: (0212) 263 29 14
Nisantasi (Tel: (0212) 224 24 15
Kanyon (Tel: (0212) 353 08 70

Check website for other locationswww.dr.com.tr

Remzi Kitabevi is also good
Akmerkez Shopping Mall
Tel: (0212) 282 25 75

or
Bagdat Caddesi
Suadiye (Tel : (0216) 361 90 71

Check website for other locationshttp://www.remzi.com.tr

You might like to e-mail Oxford University Press and get a list of stockists in Istanbul.

You could try the OUP rep in Turkey,

http://elt.oup.com/contactus?cc=tr&selLanguage=en&mode=hub

If you are in Turkey the website contact us page takes you to their Turkey reps, but maybe outside Turkey it doesn't do that, so here are the details on the website:

Uh, I would call the office in New York and ask them how much to send them to you before you leave.

Remember the weight of your bags will change.

In Kadikoy, just behind the post office, is a huge book market called Akmar Pasaji. It's quite famous - anyone on the street can direct you there.

They have a very large selection of textbooks there, although it may be difficult to find originals. If you don't mind photocopies, this is THE place in Istanbul to go for textbooks, as well as for most other kinds of second-hand English book.
