I've asked about this school a year ago, and I'm still interested. Just wondering if there is anyone else here who can share their experiences, or what they've heard.

It's a cover for illegal missionary work. If that's your thing, apply away!

Well... saving souls does seem a little more important than improving English literacy...

Actually, one of the things that interests me about this school is that it's an "American" university, and therefore the staff consists of over 100 foreign teachers.

How do I find other schools with a large foreign teacher population? I believe this would be beneficial to me as a first-timer in China.

I believe it's a school for wealthy, not-very-good students. It sends a bunch of their students to Fort Hays State to finish their degree, right? I remember reading from other posters on here that many students were rich kids with bad attitude problems, and if you were not a born-again Christian you'd have trouble getting your contract renewed because the American administrators wouldn't like you very much.

Fort Hayes (Hays?) has a similar school in China's Northeast, and after hearing about the caliber of students they recruit here, I passed on a job offer they gave me.

As for going to the Henan school, it is in a poor province, and not even in the city -- I think it's like 45 minutes from Zhengzhou. You'll be in the boondocks, and not even the nice/cool boondocks (I mean, you won't be seeing exotic customs like you would in some places -- you'd just be surrounded by poverty). Combining that with students who don't care about their education, I'd say you wouldn't be in for a very good time there.
