My partner and I managed to get an appointment for a residence permit. However, it is only six days before our tourist visa expires and I have read that it may take up to ten days to get your book if everything works out.
Would we be considered overstayed if we had the permit in process when our tourist visa expired? Or should we leave for a week or two prior to the meeting to push back our exit date?
I don't know if leaving and re-entering before then will mess up the process since the form asks for last entrance date and it would be rendered incorrect by leaving and re-entering before the meeting.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated. |

Hi Kaurinz,
When you get approved, you'll get a little piece of paper showing the time when you can pick up your permit. It's usually only 3-4 days later, but can be up to ten. In any event, that little piece of paper works as a temporary residence permit - techincally you've been given residency, you're just waiting for the book to prove it. If you're stopped by the police (highly unlikely anyways), just show that, and you'll be fine. Don't worry. |
