Hello. Long time reader, first time poster. I am new blood to ESL teaching. I have decided to make my dent on the world by going to China to teach. I have many reasons for this, but my question is: "Have any of you experienced intellectuals heard of Bond Language Institute in ZhongShan, Guangdong (http://www.tefl-bond.com) and if so, is it generally regarded as a reputable school?" I have had numerous email conversations with the recruiter and looked at many websites of the city, school, and locales surrounding it. I dont sense any deception and when I first got the interested response, I had a gut feeling that I should take this position. If anyone would be willing to help me with finding any information that I wouldnt be able to find without superior knowledge and experience or thru emailing past teachers, I would greatly appreciate it. And please, i have read many of the threads on these message boards....please dont fight. Have a great day everyone. |

I was in communication with themn a while ago, and my impression is they are bona fide education professionals, i.e. a taining centre.
The owner seems to be a dual Canadian/Chinese citizen.
There was at that time a debate as to whether Bond is going to dispatch its foreign recruits to Inner Mongolia without their consent. I don't know what the final conclusion was.
Anyway, you cou7ld hit upon much worse. Zhongshan is a modern town in the middle of the west-side Pearl River Delta, wedged between Shunde and Zhuhai, with its own harbour and ferries to Hong Kong.
Downtown is really modern and CLEAN (unbelievable by CHinese standards!).
It might be a bit boring in the long run, as it is in most medium-sized towns in China, especially the remodelled ones.
But you have excellent tansportation to Jiangmen, Taishan, Macau, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Hong Kong. Winter is not too cold. |
