Hi everyone,

Are there any teachers in the Adana/Malatya area?

Today I was offered a teacher position in Malatya and was told that the living costs are much lower than here in Istanbul.

Are there any western teachers in that area?

Or to quote Pink Floyd:

Is there anybody OUT THERE? (In Adana or Malatya).

Cheers!!!!

I'm in Adana, but I just got here today. It's raining. I'm planning to be here for about a week and a half, paying visits to Antep and Mersin on job-hunt and unless I find a job offer immediately, then take a loop through Urfa, Diyarbakir, Malatya, Sivas, and Kayseri. I may be able to update you when and if I get to Malatya in about 2 1/2 weeks but if I love the city, I may tell you it's a dump in order to reduce the competition. ;)

Can I ask why you're asking about Adana though, if the offer is in Malatya? The cities aren't remotely close. Turkey is a much larger city than it looks on a map. The nearest large city is Gaziantep, and I believe that's about four hours away.

Regards,
~Q

Hi Q: The reason why I mentioned both of these cities was because I didn't know where I would be working. Also, I plan to fly to Malatya in less than two weeks to visit the school; get a feel for the city and (most importantly) apply for my residence/work permits as they'll be much faster to get in Malatya than here in Istanbul.

Hope you can get a job in that part of Turkey, should be less of a pressure cooker than IST, at least that's what I've heard.

Cheers

Hi,

You will have ask to someone else who's been there as I've decided to stay here in Istanbul before I hope to go back to SE Asia. Best wishes. C10
