Hi teachers,

I'm just wondering if anyone could let me know the qualifications required for a Russian work visa?

The reason I ask teachers with experience rather than simply checking the Russian government website is because I was told a degree was required to teach in China, yet here I am, degreeless, on a legitimate z visa teaching in China. I wonder if the same system operates in any other countries (de jure: degree required for work visa, de facto: no degree required)?

My partner and I are considering teaching in Russia when our contracts in China finish. Can any teachers who have experience in Russia let me know? Much appreciated!

As far as I know, yes, a degree is needed for a working visa. You will even need to have it notarized and apostilled etc.

I may be wrong, though. That has been my experience, at least. But there may be others out there who have managed to slip through the cracks.

I was under the impression that both a degree and some form of English teaching are required. However, I'm certain of one thing, that different parts of Russia seem to interpret rules differently, and often different officials and even the same officials on different days (or even different times in one day). So it would not surprise me if people get through the cracks.

Teaching qual is only for a Teacher Visa, apparently. But only God above really knows...
