Not ever considered Turkey really I suppose as lots of former Gulf colleagues had bailed out from there. Regardless, what is it like to be there now the country is seemingly booming and is the salary any good - I couldn't find any details. |

It looks from their site as though "Experienced Teachers" are still expected to work 25 contact hours.
Is this the case, or have I got the wrong end of the stick?
THanks,

No, 25 contact hours was pretty standard. I think (but am not 100% sure) that you only do about 20 contact hours if you're also doing one of the training courses (MA or DELTA). |

I promise you that you will not make as much anywhere in Turkey as you will in the Gulf. A starting salary I got offered in the Gulf was 2.4k/mo USD. (I didn't take it because I decided that really even that's not enough to work in Saudi Arabia.) The highest I've ever heard of anyone making here is about 2k/mo, and that's both extremely unusual and for someone with years of experience in Turkey. (To many employers here, it seems that a year of experience in Turkey is worth more than any amount of experience abroad.) In Istanbul 1.2-1.8k/mo depending on quals, school and experience is more common. (It's a bit less in the rest of Turkey because, except on the SW coast, the cost of living is lower.)
You come here if you want to live, because really, it is a very nice place to live. But chances are that you'd be saving much, or even anything depending on your lifestyle, are nonexistent.

Sedaa91. Thanks for that. Looks like I might have to try and get to Turkey some other way. |
