Just been looking at the profiles of some that I've worked with and wondering, if I hadn't know them, would I be able to see through their BS? Seems they've spent a fair amount of time and effort in seeking professional connections/associations they'd otherwise have no interest in, falsifying or exaggerating current/previous employment info: one states CEO and founder of a company with a non-existent website.

S/He who has the most e-connections, wins?

I'm also linked-in, and my stuff is entirely accurate (and quite dry), because I use the site as an addendum/verifier to my CV. Basically, I expect it to be visited and checked by potential employers (being off-leash these days, I do project and short-term work for more than one institution).

However, unlike our brave John, I keep my connections strictly to business (no family or friends) and I definitely wouldn't publish it here for reasons of privacy. As I've mentioned before, long ago I picked up a stalker from Dave's and I've been a bit paranoid ever since. By the way, it was no fault of the forums' that the stalker happened.

Dear spiral78,

At my age, being stalked would be, shall we say, odd (unless the stalker had a severe case of geezerphilia Very Happy.)

Regards,
John
